Adult Swimming Lessons Criteria

Non-Swimmer
  • Unable to float
  • Unable to submerge your face
  • Unable to push or glide
  • Unable to kick without a float
  • Lessons will help to build confidence in the water
  • Learn breathing practices for swimming
Beginner
  • Can float with a flotation aid
  • Can submerge your face in water
  • Can push/ glide with a flotation aid
  • Can kick in water with a flotation aid
  • Lessons will help learn swimming breathing techniques
Improver
  • Can float without an floatation aid
  • Can submerge your face in water
  • Can push/glide without a floatation aid
  • Can kick in water without a floatation aid
  • Are able to do breathing swimming techiniques
Intermediate
  • Can float on front & back without a floatation aid
  • Can submerge your face in water
  • Can push/glide without a floatation aid
  • Can kick in water without a floatation aid
  • Are able to do breathing swimming techiniques

Childrens Swim Lessons

Childrens Swimming Lessons Criteria

Level 1
  • Can enter the water in a safe manner unassisted
  • Blow Bubbles
  • Put full face in water for 5 seconds
  • Float on back without floats
  • Float on front without floats
  • Jump into pool unassisted
  • Kick on front – no float
  • Kick on back – no float
Level 2
  • Can complete floating positions X, Y & I on front & back
  • Streamline push & glide (no kick)
  • Kicking on front & back with no floats
  • Basic breaststroke leg kick on back
  • Basic breaststroke leg kick on front with float
  • Bilateral breathing with a float
Level 3
  • Front crawl basic arm action & leg kick with & without a float
  • Back crawl basic arm action & leg kick with and without float
  • Breaststroke legs and arms
  • Butterfly undulations (dolphin kick)
  • Kicking on side (one arm extended & one arm down by their side holding float & breathing.
Level 4
  • Front Crawl: Push, glide & kick transition (Breathing & timing)
  • Back Crawl: Push, glide & kick transition (Breathing & timing)
  • Breast Stroke: Body position, timing & breathing – full stroke 10 metres
  • Butterfly: Leg Kick, undulation 10 metres
  • Treading water for 2 mins in deeper water
  • Endurance Swimming: 25m front crawl followed by 25m back crawl
Level 5
  • Front & Back Crawl: Push, glide & kick transition Breathing & timing, Advanced practices (bilateral breathing) Push, glide & kick transition
  • Breast Stroke: body position, timing & breathing – full stroke for 25 mins
  • Butterfly: leg kick on front & back 25 meters
  • Tumble turns: on front & back
  • Endurance swimming: 50 metres front crawl followed by 50 metres back crawl
