Welcome to the Kerry Sports Academy.

Kerry Sports Academy opened its doors to students, staff and various groups within the community in September 2019.

We are located in MTU Kerry.

The Kerry Sports Academy is a universally accessible sports facility which has state of the art facilities including:

  • International sized indoor sports hall
  • Hydrotherapy suite
  • Gym area including a High performance gym and exercise physiology laboratory
  • Aerobic and dance studios
  • Massage suite
  • Teaching spaces (lecture theatre and class rooms)
  • Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and Video Conferencing (VC) equipped
  • Specialist treatment and activity specific rooms
  • Dry outdoor and wet changing areas
  • Student recreation area

Our campus also houses the Health and Leisure Department as well as:

  • UNESCO Chair – Transforming the Lives of People with Disabilities, their Families and Communities
    through Physical Education, Sport, Recreation and Fitness
  • CARA – National Centre for Adapted Physical Activity
  • Health and Leisure Department of MTU Kerry
  • Kerry GAA Centre of Excellence
  • Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

We offer a wide range of Sports & Event facilities.
Kerry Sports Academy consists of 1 Sports hall (breaks into 3 courts), a dance studio, aerobics studio, 2 gym facilities and a hydrotherapy pool.

Kerry Sports Academy Child Admission Policy

Under our policy a child is defined as anyone under the age of 18 years Child Admission – Premises Children under 11 years of age must be supervised on the premises at all times Child Admission Policy – Gym Children under 16 years of age are not permitted to use the gym facilities during public times. Children aged 14 – 16 years are allowed to access the teen gym programme. A parent/guardian must sign up their child to the programme and verify age status by birth certificate or passport.   • Children under 13 years are not allowed enter adult swims
  • Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult in the water
  • Children taking part in swim lessons must be signed in at reception by a parent/guardian
  • Children must be 5 years and upwards to take part in swim lessons
  • There is a ratio of 1 teacher to 7 children in a swim lesson
  • No swim teacher will teach a lesson alone on deck with children
  • Parents must stay on the premises when lessons are in progress
  • Parents must accompany children in changing rooms
